Newbies Booties All-in-Two Cloth Diaper

A little while ago I met the nicest mama in a cloth diaper group on Facebook. This awesome mama, Stephanie, owner and creator of Newbies Booties, sews up some of the cutest cloth diapers! I own 3 Newbies Booties to date. Right now I'm going to tell you about her All-in-Twos....a style of diaper I've recently really fallen in love with.
About Newbies Booties
Newbies Booties is based in Texas in the loving home of Stephanie. She has the cutest little man to test her patterns on and has spent a lot of time practicing her new trade. Newbies Booties is celebrating it's 1 year anniversary on July 17th! Stephanie makes a variety of cloth diaper styles, including All-in-Ones, All-in-Twos, Covers, Fitteds, Hybrid Fitteds, Fleece Longies, Wipes and Bibs. She makes ready-to-ship, semi-custom and custom diapers in any of her styles and loves to accommodate your baby's specific needs. As she says (and it's true!):
"Every baby is proportioned differently and if you have a baby that needs any special tailoring please don’t hesitate to send requests for customs."
Because Stephanie still considers herself in the learning stage of making cloth diapers (although I totally disagree), she has some amazing prices on all her stuff! On the Newbies Booties Facebook page you'll find albums with all her adorable, fun and unique fabric selections...there's a lot! You can also drool over all her previous custom diapers.

Newbies Booties All-in-Two
In case you're not familiar with the All-in-Two, it's basically like an All-in-One, except that the soaker/insert snaps into the inner...instead of being sewn in like an AIO. The nice thing about an AI2, in my opinion, is that you don't have to stuff it like a pocket and it takes less time to dry than an AIO. Also, you can get different snap in soakers depending on your absorbency needs. I own 2 Newbies Booties AI2s...and even though they are different patterns...I have to say I love both equally. For now, I'll focus on the pattern Stephanie uses most.

This particular Newbies Booties features a woven cotton outer with a cotton velour inner and has hidden PUL sandwiched in between. The turned leg casings still allow for a nice snug fit against chunky and skinny thighs alike, while not leaving any read marks from the elastic.

The wings are extra long to accommodate a growing baby to potty training. They feature a single row of snaps with 2 snaps on each wing and one snap for cross-over. If you need or want more snaps...I'm sure Stephanie can make that happen. The pattern of this diaper allows for no wing droop...so there aren't traditional hip snaps that you find in some other patterns. This diaper also features 2 rows of rise snaps, so that you can adjust it to 3 different rise lengths.

The snap in soaker is 3 layers of bamboo/cotton blend. It's very absorbent. We can get a good 4 hours out of this diaper before needing to change. So it's definitely a good diaper for going out with baby. And of course, you can always get a more absorbent soaker or add a booster for over night. Remember, Stephanie can customize your diaper to your needs. For us, the 3 layer bamboo/cotton blend is perfect during the day for my medium wetter. Over night I just add a 100% bamboo or hemp booster and Immie wakes up with a dry bed.

As you can see, it's a nice trim and snug fit on Immie. She currently weighs in at 20 lbs and roughly 29 inches tall! There's no gapping at her thighs, the diaper doesn't sag at all and it also doesn't dig into her skin. It's really a perfect on her.

She's skinny for her height, so we have the waist tabs overlapping. I also have it on the first rise snap, but I can put it on her without using the rise snaps at all. It just sits right at her belly button, instead of just below it as shown. I really do love the way this fits Immie and the ease of getting her in it. Washing this diaper is a breeze. There's nothing special to it. I wash it with all my other diapers with a warm pre-rinse, hot wash and 2 cold rinses. I dry the soaker in the dryer on medium and lay this out to dry in the sun (weather permitting). It surprisingly doesn't take that long to dry in the sun. And when I've had to dry it in the dryer...it dries way fast! Snapping the insert in is so much quicker than stuffing a pocket...and because Stephanie put on a matching purple snap for this diaper...it's super easy to find in the diaper laundry.

My little ham!
My Overall Opinion
I think Newbies Booties are an amazing diaper! The craftsmanship is impeccable and the price makes these WAHM-made diapers accessible to many cloth diapering families. Despite Stephanie's own self-criticism (like all good designers and artists do)....her diapers are awesome! I own 2 Newbies Booties AI2s and 1 Hybrid Fitted and I can't find any flaws with them! I highly highly recommend! These 3 diapers are always the first to go into the diaper pail again....because they're among the first I grab as soon as they're clean again....which means I need more...hahaha!

  20. I would choose one of the Super Hero girl prints. I love that she does sandwiched PUL. There are so many cute cotton/woven prints and it's nice to have the cuteness of a normal fitted that you don't have to put a cover over! My daughter is shaped very similar to yours (tiny waist, we often have to cross over tabs and she's 15 months old)
